BB-8 : Adding the Finishing Touches.

Completing the assembly!

That’s the LEGO Technic “Race Kart” set 42048 that I got as a birthday gift for myself a few days ago.

I have always liked the Technic series, which is LEGO’s more technical and advance line of buildable toys.  I shall make a full reveal of this one soon!

On another note:  Instagram continues to confuse me.  From getting almost 700 likes a day, everything suddenly dropped to just 380 likes in just one week.  I am not sure if people are not liking my photos that much anymore.  To think that I am close to getting 4K followers.  That’s more than a thousand!  Apparently, only a small percentage of those followers are active.  Either that, or they are getting tired of my photos.

This makes me a bit sad because I put a lot of effort to each scene that I post.  In fact, I was expecting a lot more after posting this one.  Curiously, that’s when the likes started dropping.

Oh well, here I go again with my obsession on getting Instagram likes!

Until the next time then; talk to you all soon!

BB-8 : Sunday is LEGO Build Day!

Nothing more relaxing than spending time building a LEGO set on a Sunday!

Well, at least for me!

I do find it therapeutic and stress-relieving whenever I sit down to put together a LEGO set.  I had quite a haul of them on my birthday so that’s a lot of future Sundays marked down as build time for each set that I got!

Of course, I will be featuring each set once they are completed each week.  This will give me more ideas for themes on my Instagram.

Until the next time then; talk to you all soon!

BB-8 : Tennis Lessons.

Practicing how to serve the ball!

Those tennis racquets are from the LEGO Athletes Minifigure Collection set that are a ToysRUs limited edition exclusive giveaways.  How I got two of them if they were limited edition are as follows:

It was my birthday yesterday!  It also happened that I got some royalty money from a photo that I was able to sell on Flickr.  I decided to use that money to buy a couple of LEGO sets from ToysRUs, which happens to be marking down a number of them at 20% discounts!

I ordered them online so I could use the royalty money to pay for it (money was received via PayPal).  When I came over to the store to pick the items up, I asked the clerk if I was getting the LEGO Minifigure giveaways.  She said I could, of course, even if the order was made online (the promotion was for in-store purchases only).  The giveaway for this week was for a “Cops & Robbers” theme set, but I had my eye on the “Athletes” set right from the start because of those tennis racquets, so when she handed me the “Cops & Robbers” set, I asked her if it is possible to get the “Athletes” instead.  She said sure and handed my what I asked for, but she let me take the other one too!

I was ecstatic!  I thanked her profusely, telling her how she made me happy on my birthday!  As I walked away, I thought maybe I could ask her to replace for me the “Cops & Robbers” one that she gave me extra for another “Athletes” set so I can get a pair of the tennis racquets.  So I walked back and asked her if she would do that for me.  She did, and that’s how I walked out of ToysRUs with two “Athletes” sets!

That truly made my day!  On my birthday even!  Oh, and now I have a number of LEGO sets that are just waiting to be built that I will feature soon!

On another front, I would like to write about how another Instagram user, who also takes photos of Sphero BB-8 but with a travel theme, asking if I would like to collaborate with him/her.

This Instagram user has more than 10K followers.  He/she wants to feature my photos saying that it would help me get more exposure.

I decided not the reply back. I am okay if somebody reposts my photos and give me credit, but sometimes it only ends up with the other user getting all the views and I only get a trickle of them, which only helps the other end and ending up with me feeling bad about it because I did all the hard work.

What makes me feel good is when Sphero reposts my photos!  Now that I will allow!

BB-8 : Deep Sea Diving Droid.

Exploring the depths of the seas!

I was very happy with how this scene turned out.  Suspending BB-8 in the air was again a challenge because the wire that I was using was not able to carry its weight, but once I get it to balance right, everything went well.

The actual blue posterboard that I used for background had some irregularities in it that was showing up under the lighting, but it actually made everything look like it was under water!  The light rays were added using Photoshop.

BB-8 : One Cool Ride!

Stormtrooper showing off his new pick-up truck!

That is a JADA 1/32 scale 1955 Chevy Stepside.  I came across it at Walmart.  I’ve been trying to look for 1/32 scale diecast vehicles because I had a hunch that they scale very nicely with LEGO Minifigures.  I was right!

I might hunt down more of these, but the ones that I saw at Walmart where all American muscle cars and I prefer European sport cars.  Still, I might grab a couple more.  They are not very expensive at ten bucks a pop.

BB-8 : Where the Leaves Fall.

Capturing Fall Season.

It has become quite chilly cold in our neck of the woods since the Fall Season started so it was a bit difficult to go out and take photos of Autumn leaves.  I don’t want to miss it, so I took all the courage I had for the day and went out to take some images.

I didn’t have to go far because the park just behind our house had some lovely trees that was in the middle of shedding all its leaves.

I wanted to capture BB-8 and K-2SO watching some of the leaves falling.  I was standing just off camera and was dropping a handful of leaves over them, but it was a challenge to get the timing right as I have my camera on timer.  I also think I had my aperture at a too shallow setting, so none of the falling leaves where in focus.  Oh well, live and learn!

BB-8 : Frosty Morning.

It’s getting colder and colder at my neck of the woods.

A rare occasion where I get to feature the Sphero BB-8 by itself.  Usually it’s with a LEGO Minifigure, but when I saw that there were some frost covering our front lawn, I just had to quickly take a photo and it was too late to incorporate a LEGO related theme to it.

Knitted bonnet and scarf were made for me by my Mom.
