BB-8 : One Last Photo Before We Go1

Farewell to year 2016!

That’s it! 366 photos completed!  A photo uploaded each day non-stop for a whole year!

It’s been a great year, photography-wise for me.  I was able to challenge and push myself with my creativity for one whole year!  There were times that ideas would come to me in bucket loads; there would be times that I would struggle coming up with one.  A couple of times the streak would almost end, but I hung in there and got to the finish line!

It was a great year for me with my Instagram account as well!  I never would have thought that I would gain close to 4,700 followers as of this writing.  I got a lot of kind comments about my work and even called some of those followers as friends.  Most of them are fellow toy photographers too and their own work inspired me to create even more creative content myself!  What astounded me that a lot of them are almost my age too.  I could count with my hand the number of toy photographers who are below the age of ten; most of them are grown-up like me.  I guess I am not the only mature person out there who still like playing with toys!

Sadly, I can’t say the same with my Flickr account.  When I first started posting my BB-8 photos there, I would get close to 1500 views per photo and maybe more.  But by the month of February 2016, those views dropped by half and by the end of the year, I could only get around 150 views.  I am not sure if Flickr’s popularity has waned, but I am quite puzzled by it considering I have more than 2,000 followers.

I will now take a break.  It’s been non-stop waking up early just to post a photo and write about it in my blog that I need to step away from it for a while so I can think of what to do next.  The whole “366 Days of BB-8” collection can still be viewed in my Flicker Album.

I also created a Facebook Page called “365 Days of BB-8“.  I will re-post my photos there on a daily basis for the rest of year 2017.

Thank you for following along with me on this adventure!

Until the next time then; talk to you all soon!

BB-8 : My Hero!

R2-D2 truly is an unsung hero of the Star Wars saga.  Can you recall how many acts of heroism he has done?

Here I feature the complete Bandai model kit of BB-8 and R2-D2.  Both are 1/12 scale.

I have not done any painting on both; just straight assembly from box.  I didn’t even put any of the decals!

This also shows the correct size comparison between the two Droids.  It’s quite surprising how small BB-8 is compared to Artoo.

BB-8 : Yotsuba loves BB-8!

All three versions of it!

I never read the manga, but I’ve always loved the Yotsuba figure from Revoltech.  I just adore the colour pallette that she has, what with her bright green shock of a hair.

These are all three versions of my BB-8, starting with the Sphero version followed by the Bandai kit and then the totally cute LEGO Minifigure.

BB-8 : The Sphero Bowl.

LEGO BB-8 doing some hang-time in the Sphero Bowl!

I wasn’t so sure about this.  The idea was that the Sphero Charging Station is used as a skatepark bowl by my tiny little LEGO BB-8.  I used Photoshop to remove the support that’s holding the little BB-8 up and added some spin blur to it’s body.

I am not sure if I wrote about it before, but the camera that I have been using is a Sony A6000 paired with a Sony 50mm f/1.8 OSS lens.  This camera just exposes every image I take almost perfectly.  I edit my photos in Lightroom.
