BB-8 : One Last Photo Before We Go1

Farewell to year 2016!

That’s it! 366 photos completed!  A photo uploaded each day non-stop for a whole year!

It’s been a great year, photography-wise for me.  I was able to challenge and push myself with my creativity for one whole year!  There were times that ideas would come to me in bucket loads; there would be times that I would struggle coming up with one.  A couple of times the streak would almost end, but I hung in there and got to the finish line!

It was a great year for me with my Instagram account as well!  I never would have thought that I would gain close to 4,700 followers as of this writing.  I got a lot of kind comments about my work and even called some of those followers as friends.  Most of them are fellow toy photographers too and their own work inspired me to create even more creative content myself!  What astounded me that a lot of them are almost my age too.  I could count with my hand the number of toy photographers who are below the age of ten; most of them are grown-up like me.  I guess I am not the only mature person out there who still like playing with toys!

Sadly, I can’t say the same with my Flickr account.  When I first started posting my BB-8 photos there, I would get close to 1500 views per photo and maybe more.  But by the month of February 2016, those views dropped by half and by the end of the year, I could only get around 150 views.  I am not sure if Flickr’s popularity has waned, but I am quite puzzled by it considering I have more than 2,000 followers.

I will now take a break.  It’s been non-stop waking up early just to post a photo and write about it in my blog that I need to step away from it for a while so I can think of what to do next.  The whole “366 Days of BB-8” collection can still be viewed in my Flicker Album.

I also created a Facebook Page called “365 Days of BB-8“.  I will re-post my photos there on a daily basis for the rest of year 2017.

Thank you for following along with me on this adventure!

Until the next time then; talk to you all soon!

BB-8 : Their Last Journey Together.

As their story comes to a close, a new chapter opens…

365 photos of BB-8 all-in-all.  2016 being a Leap Year, there will be 366 by tomorrow.

I am quite relieved and proud that I made it to the end of this project.  I mentioned before that I had tried to do a “365 Days” project numerous times before but never succeeded.  Somehow, this Sphero BB-8 gave me the opportunity to finally be able to complete one.

Through the course of this year my Instagram account grew from a handful of followers to 4600.  Most of those are ghost accounts, I am sure, but about 500 of them may have become avid fans of my work.  Some of them I’ve come to know by the style of their own toy photography and some I have even called “friend” just because of their constant kind comments.  I have no immediate plans on how to follow up with what I am just about to achieve here, so I feel a bit sad that I might not be active on Instagram anymore.  I will surely miss the toy community that I found there.

Onwards!  One more to go and it’s goodbye to year 2016!

Until the next time then; talk to you all soon!

BB-8 : Checking Instagram Account.

Only a couple of weeks left in the year!

My “366 Days of BB-8” Project is in the home stretch!  I can’t believe how very close it is to being completed!  When I started taking photos of the Sphero BB-8 last November 2015, I never knew I would be able to go this far.  I had a number of “a photo a day” project attempts in the past but was not as successful as this current one!

I can already feel a sense of achievement!  Looking forward to completing this project soon!

Until the next time then; talk to you all soon!

A better way to carry BB-8 around!

That’s the trailer and the Ford Pick-Up Truck from the LEGO Speed Champions “Ford F-150 Raptor and Ford Model A Hot Rod” set 75875 that I got for my birthday.  It’s fast becoming one of my favourites, just because of how cool the vehicles are!

This actually was the nth set-up.  I had a hard time coming up with a good composition for the scene, being that it’s all being put together on top of a desktop which limits my options for camera views.  That usually happens when I try to set up something with big elements such as the trailer and the truck.  It would have been easier if this was set outdoors, but time constraints prevented me to doing one.  I still liked how this came out.

Until the next time then; talk to you all soon!

Getting BB-8 into the hoop!

My previous post was a result of having no idea for a theme at all.

It sure reflected in the number of likes I got on my Instagram account here.

It’s a big drop from the one previous to it, which had almost double the likes, and has a more, well-thought out theme.

Goes to show what I suspected about coming up with really good ideas: the bad ones are really bad and will not get that much likes.

Either that or half of the world was not in Instagram that day.

Oh well…it’s been a long time since I wrote about my obsession of getting likes on Instagram, so there!

Until the next time then; talk to you all soon!
