BB-8 : One Last Photo Before We Go!

Farewell to year 2016!

That’s it! 366 photos completed!  A photo uploaded each day non-stop for a whole year!

It’s been a great year, photography-wise for me.  I was able to challenge and push myself with my creativity for one whole year!  There were times that ideas would come to me in bucket loads; there would be times that I would struggle coming up with one.  A couple of times the streak would almost end, but I hung in there and got to the finish line!

It was a great year for me with my Instagram account as well!  I never would have thought that I would gain close to 4,700 followers as of this writing.  I got a lot of kind comments about my work and even called some of those followers as friends.  Most of them are fellow toy photographers too and their own work inspired me to create even more creative content myself!  What astounded me that a lot of them are almost my age too.  I could count with my hand the number of toy photographers who are below the age of ten; most of them are grown-up like me.  I guess I am not the only mature person out there who still like playing with toys!

Sadly, I can’t say the same with my Flickr account.  When I first started posting my BB-8 photos there, I would get close to 1500 views per photo and maybe more.  But by the month of February 2016, those views dropped by half and by the end of the year, I could only get around 150 views.  I am not sure if Flickr’s popularity has waned, but I am quite puzzled by it considering I have more than 2,000 followers.

I will now take a break.  It’s been non-stop waking up early just to post a photo and write about it in my blog that I need to step away from it for a while so I can think of what to do next.  The whole “366 Days of BB-8” collection can still be viewed in my Flicker Album.

I also created a Facebook Page called “365 Days of BB-8“.  I will re-post my photos there on a daily basis for the rest of year 2017.

Thank you for following along with me on this adventure!

Until the next time then; talk to you all soon!

BB-8 : Their Last Journey Together.

As their story comes to a close, a new chapter opens…

365 photos of BB-8 all-in-all.  2016 being a Leap Year, there will be 366 by tomorrow.

I am quite relieved and proud that I made it to the end of this project.  I mentioned before that I had tried to do a “365 Days” project numerous times before but never succeeded.  Somehow, this Sphero BB-8 gave me the opportunity to finally be able to complete one.

Through the course of this year my Instagram account grew from a handful of followers to 4600.  Most of those are ghost accounts, I am sure, but about 500 of them may have become avid fans of my work.  Some of them I’ve come to know by the style of their own toy photography and some I have even called “friend” just because of their constant kind comments.  I have no immediate plans on how to follow up with what I am just about to achieve here, so I feel a bit sad that I might not be active on Instagram anymore.  I will surely miss the toy community that I found there.

Onwards!  One more to go and it’s goodbye to year 2016!

Until the next time then; talk to you all soon!

BB-8 : I finally got to see your face in the end.

Rey’s face, revealed!

Only two more days after this one and my “366 Days of BB-8” project will be completed!

During the course of the year, I’ve always featured the LEGO Rey Minifigure wearing her headgear.  I thought she would be more recognizable because of that unique feature.  Well, since the year is about to end, it’s time that I show how she really looks like!  A proper ending to her starring role in this project!

BB-8 : Exploring the Snow.

It’s a cold Winter day out there!

It didn’t snow that much in my neck of the woods, but that didn’t stop it from being so cold!  When it did snow, it dumped a lot of the white stuff.  It was really hard to brave it out and go set up a scene when it’s -25ºC!

BB-8 : Tower of Yummy-ness!

Too good to resist!

It’s become a regular tradition for my family to receive Ferrero Rocher Chocolates during this Holiday Season.  I’ve always wanted to feature them in photos because of their lovely gold colours but never got around to doing it until now.

Only a few days left for my “366 Days of BB-8” to be complete!

Until the next then; talk to you all soon!

BB-8 : What BB-8 got for Christmas!

Even toys get presents from me!

That’s the LEGO Technic “Quad Bike” Set 42034 that I opened up on Christmas Day for my Sphero BB-8 to ride!  I love that it’s scaled big enough for my BB-8 to sit on!

Only 5 days left in the year and my “366 Days of BB-8” project will soon be complete.  I mentioned earlier that I attempted a number of “a-photo-a-day” projects before, but this will be the first to reach conclusion.  I guess being able to start day 1 on the New Year gave me extra motivation.

I actually am not ready for what would come next after I complete this project.  My wife told me I should take some time off so I can have a fresher approach the next time round.  I am not even sure if it would be another project, say a “365 Days” this time, being that 2016 is a Leap Year.  We shall see…

BB-8 : Oh, Holy Night!

It is the night of our dear saviour’s birth!

A MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL!  May we remember what the true meaning of Christmas is, which is to me and my family: the birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ!

Until the next time then; talk to you all soon!

BB-8 : Getting Into the Christmas Spirit!

It’s beginning to look a little bit like Christmas!

Only a couple of days left til Christmas!  Got to get that Christmas spirit going!

BB-8 : Bodybuilding Motivation.

Never mind how much the Droid can lift; we’ll start you with lighter ones and then work our way up!”

I was really having a hard time coming up with an idea today, so I just stared at my LEGO Minifigure collection to find some inspiration and ended up with a theme with the LEGO Skeleton Minifigure.
